Additional Information -
I have a few Micro Tamiya options. ET0626 Male with wire. ET0627 Female with wire. ET0821 Male micro adaptor to female Tamiya, or With Female deans ET0820 or Female EL ET0823, or EC3 ET0825. Female Micro to male Demas ET0819, or EC3 ET0826, or Male Tamiya ET0822, or Male EL ET0824
Sometimes these are called Mini Tamiya and I have these as connectors only ET0793M for Male , ET0794M for Female and ET0795M for a packet with one male and one female.
Key Features:
NiMH Battery Compatibility:
Tamiya connectors are frequently used with NiMH batteries commonly found in many RC cars.
Secure Connection:
The connector has a locking mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection, which is especially useful in RC cars where vibrations and movement are common.
Low Resistance (for intended use):
While not as low as some other connectors like Deans, Tamiya connectors offer efficient power transfer for the applications they are designed for.
Durable Design:
They often feature gold-plated connectors for reliable and low-resistance power transfer and flexible, heat-resistant silicone wire.
Safety Features:
The connectors isolate the positive and negative wires and have a locking mechanism, making them safer to use in damp conditions and for low-current applications.
Not ideal for high-power setups:
Tamiya connectors are not recommended for high-current applications like brushless motors and LiPo batteries.
Can overheat:
In high-power setups, Tamiya connectors can overheat and potentially melt the plastic housing.
Limited Current Capacity:
They are typically designed for low to medium current draw (around 15A constant or 20A burst).
Deans/T-Plugs: Offer lower resistance and higher current capacity than Tamiya connectors.
XT60: A popular choice for higher-power applications, known for their ease of soldering and secure connection.
Bullet Connectors: Used with various sizes depending on the application, can handle high currents and voltages.
EC-Connectors: Similar to XT connectors but with separate pins for easier soldering.
- Identify Wires:Determine which wires (e.g., from your battery or ESC) need connecting.
- Crimp Terminals: Use appropriate crimping pliers to attach the female metal terminals (included) onto the stripped ends of your wires.
- Insert into Housing: Push the crimped terminals firmly into the corresponding slots in the male Tamiya block housing until they click and lock.
- Connect: Plug the assembled male connector onto a matching female Tamiya connector (or vice versa) for a secure power connection
The cars are much heavier in the 1:8 category compared to those in the 1:10 category and thus it’s important to have the right amount of damping in these cars. With heavier cars there’s a greater risk of diving at bumps and when landing after jumps. Too stiff damping in the front results in under-steering and if the damping is too soft in the front, the front will dive when braking. By softening the damping in the rear, you’ll achieve better grip when turning but make sure the damping is sufficient for landings.
